Camino de Santiago Apr 4, 2010

During the last few days, we have been walking through the Way of St. James ("Camino de Santiago" in Spanish, or "Camiño de Santiago", in Galician); it's a pilgrimage to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia.

It is a very popular pilgrimage, specially during "Xacobeo Holy Year" (those years where June 25th is Sunday, such as 2010).

There are several different "Camino de Santiago" ways, depending on the starting point. Trini and me walked throw the French Way, which is the most popular one. We began walking on March 30th from Sarria, and arrived Santiago on April 3rd: 5 days walking about 115 km total.

Back from our holidays, in our way from Jaén to Madrid, we stopped to look for a geocache in Santa Elena, in the Parque Natural de Despeñaperros: Journey to the Paleolithic - Cave of the dolls.

It is in the path called "Cerro del Castillo", which guides us to the "cave", which is actually a shelter with some ancient paintings.

We woke out late and, after having lunch, we took the car and went to Patones.

First of all, we went to a place near Patones de Abajo commonly used by many cavers to improve their abilities. There, we saw a ditch which concluded in a large waterfall.

Then, we went to Pontón de la Oliva to look for the exit of the Cueva del Reguerillo. We found it!

And then we got into the car again and went to the main entrance of the Reguerillo, with some light and we visited it (from the beginning to the lake).
